Marquez tips Mayweather to beat Manny Pacquiao

Juan Manuel Marquez knows a thing or two about both Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. having fought both of them at different points in their careers.

The legendary Mexican boxer fought the Filipino Bomber four times in their careers and landed the most devastating of blows of the Filipino in the dying seconds of the sixth round during their last encounter which completely knocked him cold for a few minutes. He also faced the American once in his career, losing a close match and from his experience, he believes Mayweather will win a fight between two of the greatest boxers of all time if a match can be agreed.

The sixth ranked pound for pound boxer said that Mayweather has an almost impregnable defense and his overall footwork coupled with swift punches will be enough to get a victory over Manny Pacquiao. Bu while he admits the American will prove to be too strong for Pacquiao; he says that he will not be a match which Mayweather will win by knockout.

Marquez mentioned that Mayweather will win any bout between them without a doubt, but he is not a puncher, but an artist. He will defend himself for long periods of the bout and then come up with a quick counter punch and that can really hurt the Filipino.

The Mexican believes that the best thing about the American is that he has impeccable timing and that is something Manny Pacquiao cannot deal with.

Amir Khan, who trains with Pacquiao, however, disagrees with the views of Marquez. According to the British boxer, the Filipino is very quick and strong and the explosiveness with which he embarks on an opponent will be a bit too much for the ageing Floyd Mayweather Jr. to handle at this stage in his career.
