Conor McGregor could see a new twist soon after a deal with the UFC to fight boxing superstar Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather.

The Money Team and UFC are reportedly thrashing out a deal.

UFC know what is at stake so they have set a back-up plan with Manny Pacquiao as the man, the BBC reports. The report claims Pacquaio’s promoter Bob Arum handed the UFC a deal. Arum counselled UFC chief Dana White not to “give in” during negotiations with The Money Team.

He would be in a good place to offer the advice, following his experience during the Mayweather-Pacquiao bout.
“Dana’s a good negotiator and he’ll get the thing done. But he can’t be pushed around by Mayweather and his people,” Arum said. He added that after Pacquiao’s fight against an Australian in July, and then he could fight McGregor if he is still available and keen to fight.

The star fighter recently admitted that he has not seen Jeff Horn fight but that the Queensland school teacher should get ready for the fight on July 1 at Lang Park.

The Filipino boxing legend flew to Australia in April and checked in privately. The fight is set to be the biggest in Australian history with the underdog Horn expected to cause an upset.

If McGregor wants to fight Mayweather, the financial implications would be insane. UFC pay-per-view show is $60 in the US but the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight was $100. The response is mixed as there are not sure expectations for the fight but still the rewards if it happens would be a record.

Pacquiao could fight McGregor but there are a lot of factors in play. Time will tell.
